This Privacy Policy explains how Tatlab (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use the Tatlab iOS app. We built Tatlab to collect as little as possible. We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or contacts.
Tattoo prompts. The text you type to generate or refine a design is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing server and then to our AI image providers solely to produce your design. We do not use your prompts to build advertising or sell them to anyone.
Designs you refine. When you ask the app to refine an existing design, that design image is sent to our server and AI provider to produce the new version.
Photos for Try On. When you preview a design on a photo of your skin in Try On, that photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing server and to our AI provider solely to render the design realistically onto your skin. It is used only to produce your result, is not retained on our servers after the result is generated, and is never used for advertising or sold.
Photos for Portrait Studio. When you turn a photo of a loved one or pet into a portrait tattoo, that photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing server and to our AI provider solely to generate the portrait design. It is used only to produce your result, is not retained on our servers after the result is generated, and is never used for advertising or sold.
Photos for Cover-Up Studio. When you use Cover-Up Studio, the photo of your existing tattoo is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing server and to our AI provider solely to generate a cover-up design. It is used only to produce your result, is not retained on our servers after the design is generated, and is never used for advertising or sold.
Generated designs. Designs you create are stored locally on your device. Favourites and your “My Tatts” history live only on your device.
Diagnostic data. Our server keeps short-lived, non-identifying technical logs (such as error codes and timestamps) to keep the service reliable. These logs do not identify you.
Usage analytics. To understand how the app is used and improve it, we record anonymous product-usage events (for example: which screens are viewed, when onboarding is completed, when the paywall is shown, and when a design is generated or a purchase is made). These events are tagged with a random, app-generated identifier created on your device the first time you open the app. This identifier is not your name, email, Apple ID, or device ID, is not linked to your real-world identity, and is not used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. We use a privacy-friendly analytics provider for this; we do not sell this data or use it for advertising.
Your prompt, and any design or photo you provide, is processed by these providers acting on our behalf:
Hosting is provided by Vercel. Anonymous product-usage analytics are processed by PostHog on our behalf. Subscriptions and payments are handled entirely by Apple — we never see your card or payment details.
Tatlab Pro is sold as an auto-renewable subscription through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the purchase and manages billing. We receive only an anonymous signal from Apple confirming whether an active subscription exists, which we use to unlock features.
Prompts and images are processed to fulfil your request and are not retained on our servers for longer than needed to deliver the result. Designs and history stored on your device remain until you delete them or remove the app.
Tatlab is intended for users aged 17 and older and is not directed to children.
You can delete any design from within the app, and removing the app deletes all locally stored data. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple ID settings.
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
